History in the Making
So I finally managed to get tickets to a Rays game, which just so happened to be the sold out game Saturday afternoon. (by the way, the tickets were purchased legally)So, I get there about an hour before the game is about to start. But getting there was half the fun. Map quest sends me on this huge loop to get to the stadium, and tells me to turn at this light to go right to the stadium. But, I notice several cars going straight so I follow them, and somehow manage to skip all this hassle of the 100 cars+ line. So, after finally shown where to park, I follow the herd up to the stadium. Walking in the door, I get my sweet bobble head, and a Rays cowbell. Now, never being in the new park, I have no idea how to get to my seat. So I finally find some guy working there and he directs me to follow the signs that will direct me to the 200 seating. I have to walk around several winding hallways, up 2 sets of stairs, and suddenly, when I reach the 200 level, the crowd massively thins out. Now there's only like 2 guys walking in front of me. But, amassed down the hallway is at least 40 people, blocking the way to my 218 seat. Then I realize that this is the free food concession stand. And I come to realize that the wristband I got with my ticket allows me to get all the free food I want, since I sitting in the preferred seating!! Sweet!! FREE FOOD!! So, first I decide to find my seat, which I do with ease, and then I begin consuming large quantities of carbohydrates. Soon, the game starts, with the first 2 innings being an easy 3-up, 3-down. But, the Rays pull ahead in the 3rd, and easily hold on to their lead, winning 7-2. After the game, as you all have seen in the paper, there was a massive celebration on the field, and the players went to the locker room to pop champagne, only to come back to celebrate with their fans who waited oh so long for that playoff berth. So although I have been a Yankee fan most of my life, I say to the Rays, good job, and good luck!
