Iron man. Honestly one of the most exciting movies I've seen in a long time. But its not just a fantastic movie because of the man who plays Tony Stark, its also a movie that begs you to think. Well, it begged me to think, although those who saw it with me beg to differ. Robert Downey Jr. is the perfect fit for Tony Stark, the billionaire head of Stark Industries. He's handsome, (actually, just downright hot) rich, and yet still has that mysterious charm about him. He gets kidnapped and is told to build one of his weapons or they're gonna kill him. So, instead he builds this full body suit to escape, and upon re-entering America, he finds out that the people who kidnapped him are planning to basically destroy the world. So, he decides to defend mankind, and rid the world of evil. Sound familiar, anyone?
So, while Iron Man was flying around the world, I started thinking.
Why can't we actually have body suits that do all these things? Well, now I understand that will all the armor's bulk it would take even the quickest person 2 hours to get the suit on. And it would literally cost about 6 arms and 4 legs, or the American equivalent of millions. But, let's say the army could use this super-suit. It deflects bullets, gives him super-human strength, and has and array of weapons built in. That would be amazing! No one would ever die. And we would really only need like 10 guys to suit up at a time, because they would just annihilate the offending army, and then go back to whatever they were doing. It would take a another generation before the offending country caused problems again!
But, realistically, I see that this is going to take years even if we started right now.( Which we won't seeing as how we don't even have enough money to feed and educate our nations children.) But the thought still sticks with me, even though its been about a month since I saw the movie. And, it will continue to stick with me as I intend to buy the movie upon it's release on September 30th.
"Best movie quote?", you ask?
Christine Everheart: You've been called the Da Vinci of our time. What do you say to that?
Tony Stark: Absolutely ridiculous. I don't paint.
