Ebay. Everyone knows it, and either hates it or loves it. There is no in between on this subject. You've either used it and made your decision, or you're afraid of it for privacy issues, and you haven't yet graduated to this century. Anywho, I've been using it as of late to get rid of the crap I don't use laying around the house. So far, this has worked out rather well. Sold about 12 things for a total of almost $200 in a matter of about 2 weeks. So, I'm thinking making an extra hundred a week ain't so bad. In fact, when I realized this, I hopped on and posted all my jerseys ( some brand new, some not), and already had bids totaling over $150.
Right, right, I get it. Your thinking to yourself that I'm bragging. But, I'm not, I swear. Just setting up the monetary value of the story.
So, I go to log on yesterday, and my account is suspended, so I can't get to anything on the account. So I try to log into my secondary account, and its the same thing. So I call up Ebay, and end up on the phone with them for 45 minutes, so that I can find out that I have an unpaid item on an older account. Really? The first account I ever had I started up 2 months ago, and the 2nd I started up 4-5 days ago. So when's it from? 2 years ago I'm told. Okay, so now I go about explaining that I've never had an account until recently. Finally I'm told there's nothing he can do anyway, I just have to respond to the email they sent me, and they would review the case.
So...later in the day I call back. Another 45 minutes to explain to this guy that my idenity was stolen. Someone used my bank account, and my name to get an account. But, they used the wrong address, and a similar address but the @ was the wrong company. So the guy said it was very suspicious, etc. and informed me that I would have to send him proof that I am who I'm saying I was, and that I needed to do it immediately.
So, I fax over my drivers license and a phone bill. I call up for confirmation, and I'm told it will be at least 3 days before they even look at it. Really? Why was I rushed then?!?!?
I know Ebay is a very large company. But they also employ a very large workforce. I got called a liar flat out, and spent 90 minutes of my cell time (I only get 450 a month, no rollover, and I usually get pretty close to that...) This little mishap is costing me hundreds at the moment, that I seriously need. I have bills that that money would have paid. So, after all is said and done, there is no promise that they will reinstate my account anyway. I might be permanently barred from having an account. I cant even pay for the item I supposedly didn't pay for. I kept my cool the whole call both times, (Those of you that know me are shocked right now, I know. lol) and I was flat out treated like shit.
How is it that the biggest companies have the shittiest customer service? I mean, I know you can afford to lose customers, but after awhile, that starts to add up.
A little bit goes a long way.
